# Unable to start pbs\_mom on computenode

Dear Team,  
I have installed pbspro-ce-19.1.1 on Rocks7 cluster environment , pbspro-server-19.1.1-0.x86\_64.rpm is installed on Master node and enbled pbs\_mom aslo. However, while adding computenode , after installing yum install pbspro-execution-19.1.1-0.x86\_64.rpm unable to start pbs on computenode.

[root@compute-0-0 pbs]# service pbs status  
pbs\_mom is not running

[root@compute-0-0 pbs]# service pbs restart  
Restarting PBS  
Stopping PBS  
Waiting for shutdown to complete  
Starting PBS  
PBS Home directory /var/spool/pbs needs updating.  
Running /opt/pbs/libexec/pbs\_habitat to update it.

* * *

* * *

\*\*\* The PBS Pro server could not be found: [master.calligotech.com](http://master.calligotech.com)  
\*\*\* This value must resolve to a valid IP address.

[root@compute-0-0 pbs]# pbsnodes -a  
Unknown Host.  
pbsnodes: cannot connect to server [master.calligotech.com](http://master.calligotech.com), error=15008

[root@compute-0-0 pbspro\_19.1.1.centos7]# cat /etc/pbs.conf  
PBS\_EXEC=/opt/pbs  
PBS\_SERVER=[master.calligotech.com](http://master.calligotech.com)  
PBS\_START\_SERVER=0  
PBS\_START\_SCHED=0  
PBS\_START\_COMM=0  
PBS\_START\_MOM=1  
PBS\_HOME=/var/spool/pbs  
PBS\_CORE\_LIMIT=unlimited  
PBS\_SCP=/bin/scp  
[root@compute-0-0 pbspro\_19.1.1.centos7]# cat /var/spool/pbs/mom\_priv/config  
$clienthost [master.calligotech.com](http://master.calligotech.com)  
$restrict\_user\_maxsysid 999  
$logevent 0x1ff

Please help me to resolve this issue.

Please check

1. /etc/hosts ( name resolution : forward and reverse address resolution should work for [master.calligotech.com](http://master.calligotech.com) across the PBS complex headnode and compute nodes)
2. firewall allowing ports 15001 to 15007 and 17001
3. SELinux disabled and system should be restarted if not restarted after disabling it.
