News: BoF @ SC17, Test via DockerHub, v18 Coming Along

BOF @ SC17
Meet up with fellow members of the community at the SC17 PBS Pro Open Source Project Community BoF (“Birds-of-a-Feather” session). The BoF will take place on Nov 14 at 12:15p in room 703 during the SC17 conference in Denver CO USA. For details and to offer to present at the BoF, see PBS Pro Meet-up @ SC17 on Tue, Nov 14th in Denver CO USA

Testing via DockerHub
The latest beta build (master branch from Github.com/pbspro/pbspro) is now automatically available via Docker Hub, e.g.,:

docker run -it --name pbs -h pbs pbspro/pbspro bash

Yep, it’s that easy! (Well, almost, see https://pbspro.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/PBSPro/pages/79298561/Using+Docker+to+Instantiate+PBS for details.) Remember, this is the very latest build, so it not only has all the newest features, it also has all the newest bugs, so it’s not recommended to run this in production, but it’s a great way to try new capabilities and also a great tool for testing (and providing feedback in the form of bugs or community forum posts). Enjoy, and let us know what you think!

PBS Pro v18
The next official version of PBS Pro will be version 18, and it will have some really great new capabilities as well as numerous bug fixes; see the roadmap for a snapshot of what’s done and what’s still being actively developed, at https://pbspro.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/PBSPro/pages/6193157/PBS+Pro+Roadmap. If all goes according to plan, version 18.1 is targeted to be available to the open source community in the first quarter of 2018. (Why v18? What happened to v15, v16, and v17? Well, we decided to align the version and the year, so v18 in 2018.)

Have a great day,
