Unable to start PBS_MOM

Dear Team,

I encountered an issue to start PBS_MOM service on a computer node and it returned with error message as below:

Windows could not start the PBS_MOM service on Local Computer.
Error 1006: The volume for a file has been externally altered so that the opened file is no longer valid.

Any idea how I may be able to resolve this issue? Thank you in advance for the help.

Here are some steps. To resolve your service error 1006.Check the disk for errors.

  • reinstall the PBS software.
  • confirm that the pbs mom service
  • ensure that all services are working.
    Check the Event Viewer for more detailed error data.

We identified that the issue was caused by the job directory not recognised by the PBSADMIN.

We resolved the issue by unmapping the drives and remapped the drives once again using PSEXEC service. Then PBSADMIN was subsequently able to access the job directory. PBS MOM service resumed as normal after that.
