Using PBS with a simulated cluster

Hi,

We wanted to compare different scheduling techniques on scale. We have traces from a system with 2-3k nodes and it is not using PBS currently. Is there a way to replay the traces with PBS but with a virtual (simulated) cluster?

If the system was running PBS Pro , then the scheduling techniques can be simulated with varying workdload using Altair Control - SIMULATE – https://www.pbsworks.com/PBSProduct.aspx?n=Altair-Control&c=Overview-and-Capabilities

If you could let us know your current methods of comparing different scheduling techniques on the existing workload manager, that would helpful as well. Could you please us know more about virtual simulated cluster ? Any pointers or information on this would be helpful.
