PBS OS configuration(server node/compute node)

We are currently using PBS with the following OS configuration.

[ PBS server ]

  • OS: RHEL7.7
  • PBS: pbspro 19.1.3

[ PBS compute node ]

  • OS: CentOS7.9
  • PBS: pbspro 19.1.3

We are planning to update the OS and will change the OS of the PBS compute node to Rocky linux 8.x as follows. Also, we will compile pbspro 19.1.3 on Rocky linux 8.x.

Is it possible to use PBS with the following OS configuration?
Is it necessary to update the OS on the PBS server to RHEL8.x?

[ PBS server ]

  • OS: RHEL7.7
  • PBS: pbspro 19.1.3

[ PBS compute node ]

  • OS: Rocky linux 8.x
  • PBS: pbspro 19.1.3

As long as the PBS Server and the compute nodes run the same exact version of PBS , then there would not be any issues.
